Laurel was born and raised in Huntington, West Virginia. She graduated from Marshall University with 2 Bachelor’s degrees- one in Secondary Education and the other in English. Laurel moved to Tucson after graduating college where she spent some time as a high school English teacher before making a career switch to work at a bank. During that time, she became interested in growing her qualifications in the financial services industry. She is eager to expand her financial knowledge and skills to best assist the people around her.
Laurel is married to Jake Helton, who received his PhD at the University of Arizona in Astrophysics. Laurel and her husband moved to State College, PA in August 2025 for his post-doc work at Penn State. They have two cats, Theodore and Oswald and in her free time, she enjoys hiking with her cat Theodore, crafting, going to concerts and music festivals, and traveling. Laurel makes her way back to Tucson several times a year to spend time with our team and visit with our amazing clients.
